  • We are pleased to be able to offer an afterschool 4-H Program encompassing our mission of promoting, Agriculture, Conservation and Horsemanship programs. Promoting knowledge and respect for our enviroment and its resourses.

  • Snack & free time 3:30 to 3:45
    Program 3:45 to 5:00
    Educational Enhancement 5:00 to 5:45

  • Cost $20.00 per day or $90.00 per week

  • Children in this program are welcome to attend the Maple Leaf Program during the summer

  • Agriculture & Gardening Program

    Domestic animals and us
    Rabbits,chickens,cows and goats
    Learn to care for these animals, the varieties and thier uses
    Children will have hands-on experience with various farm animals and the enviroment in they live
    What is a plant
    Seeds & travel, how plants grow, planting seedlings, making a garden, caring for the garden
    Use of Agriculture products
    Making fudge from goat milk, using compose to improve soil, using hair to make yarn

    Horsemanship

    Horses And Us
    Care For Horses, feeding, needs for a domestic horse, grooming, horse breeds and uses, riding types, draft types, Parts of a Horse, Horse Movement, Horses and Tack, Different Types of Saddles, Brides, General Tack Uses, Parts of a Saddle, Parts of a Bridle
    Using Our Horses
    Leading/Hands-on, Lunging Demos, Riding Demos This program is hands-on weather permitting. Learning includes use of video and powerpoint as well.

    Conservation

    Our World Around Us and Our Affect on it
    Use of Buck Hill Conservation Trails
    Study the importance of trees
    Animal signs and the food chain
    Search for Vernal Ponds
    Soil COnservation
    Pond Studies
    Plant Studies
    How does weather affect conservsation efforts We will develop questions, investigate and experiment for conclusions, and contemplate experiences. We invite curiosity to the natural world around us.
    Be sure to prepare for outdoor activities, such as bringing rain gear and a change of shoes if necessary.

    Arts

    Allows the students to express their creativity beyond crayons and coloring books
    We are aiming to do talent shows, art shows, and crafts that they can do at home
    Children will be able to express their creativity with out the use of computer generated games
    Our very supportive staff will encourage your child to expand their creative ideas and recognize that there are no limitations to their talents, only what they themselves allow for

    Sports and Games

    Staff members invite your children to join in activities such as
    Basketball
    Wiffleball
    Flag football
    Dodgeball
    Tag games
    Adventure courses
    Fishing (if weather permits)
    Board games and age appropriate card games
