Camp Marshall mission statement
Camp Marshall dedicates itself
to providing a positive learning experience for youth. We
provide a safe and fun environment with hands-on, outdoor, and
agricultural experiences that foster respect, independence, and
positive self-esteem.
Living accommodations and cabin assignments
Cabin assignments are made in the best
interest of the camp, your camper, and other campers. Cabin
assignments are completed the week prior to each session and
campers are assigned to cabins by their age. Cabins will have
at least one staff member per cabin. Cabins sleep between 6 and
10 campers. Cabin mate requests are honored when both campers
request each other. If only one of the two makes a request, the
request may not be honored. Cabin mate requests will not be
honored for campers who are more than one year apart in age.
Cabin mate requests must be sent in with applications. CITs are
not allowed to make cabin mate requests, as living with various
age groups is a requirement of their training. Please keep in
mind that campers are never far apart and spend much of their
day in activities together.
About our Staff
Our staff are recruited locally,
nationally and internationally. Most counselors are of college
age. We do hire a few 17 years old that have gone through our
CIT Training program. All staff are required to have a
background check done before they are hired. All staff are
certified or have experience in their particular area of
expertise. The Horse Staff are either licensed riding
instructors and/or have extensive knowledge in equestrian
activities. The staff go through an extensive 10 day staff
training before the start of camp. All our camp staff are
selected based on their expertise and their love of children.
The camper to staff ratio is 6 campers to 1 staff. Horse
program ratios are 3 campers to 1 staff.
Proper Camp Behavior
The staff at Camp Marshall strives to
create a healthy and safe environment for all campers. The camp
has a number of systems in place to recognize and respond to
behaviors that are detrimental to the health of the camp
community and its members. With many behaviors problems, we
highlight appropriate behavior and attempt to implement
strategies for improvement.
However Camp Marshall reserves the right to send home anyone who
constantly exhibits misbehavior, disobeys camp rules, or whose
behavior toward others is considered unacceptable or dangerous.
There are no refunds in this case.
Health Services
The promotion of your child’s health and
safety remains our highest priority at Camp Marshall. The camp
employs a full time Health Supervisor. Our infirmary is located
in the brown building to the left of Andrews Hall and is staffed
24 hours a day. We have a Health Care Consultant who provides
us with guidance when needed and reviews our Health Care Plan
annually. In addition, all of our staff members have current
certifications in First Aid and CPR. All campers are required
to have a health form completed by a parent and doctor. All
campers must have had a health physical within the last two
years of the first day of camp.
NO CAMPER CAN STAY AT CAMP WITH OUT THEIR HEALTH FORM BEING COMPLETED.
Bringing a Horse to Camp
For the safety of all horses at camp we
require the following immunizations:
- Coggins test (EIA) 6 months out of state, 1 year in state
- Rabies, Strangles, Influenza, EWT

premises without a copy of the vet certificate.
- No nursing mares, foals or stallions will be allowed at camp. No horse

Arrival to Camp
Campers and parents will then
take luggage and belongings to the assigned cabin where
counselors will be waiting to help everyone move in. Parents
may leave at this time. Swim tests will be given about 4:00pm
after everyone has moved in.
Day campers arrive Monday morning at 8:30am. Those
campers that have signed up for extended morning should arrive
at 7:30 for breakfast.
Friday Departure
Closing ceremonies for Traditional Camp
begin at 5:00pm on Friday and last approximately a half hour.
Parents are encouraged to join us for this event. The ceremony
includes awards for campers who excelled in certain areas as
well as highlights of the week and a display or demonstration of
camper accomplishments. We do not offer dinner on Fridays. All
campers should plan to be picked up by 6:00pm. Please be sure
that you take all your camper’s belongings with you including
those items on the clotheslines. Also, stop by to see the
health supervisor to retrieve any medications, as we do not keep
these items at camp over the weekend. Your final camper sign
out before you take your child with you will be with the health
supervisor. Only those individuals who are on your Authorized
to Pick Up form will be allowed to take your child. ID’s may be
requested. Any necessary changes to this form must be made in
writing in advance with the Camp Director.
Horse Campers’, Horse
Masters’, and Horse Lovers’ closing demonstrations will begin at
2:00pm. This will give those enrolled in horse camp a chance to
demonstrate what they have learned with their horse during the
week. Saddle-Up campers’ demonstrations will begin at 4:00pm.
Campers in the horse programs must clean their horse stalls and
check out with the barn manager before leaving the barn area.
Saddle-Up Campers’
demonstrations will begin at 4:00pm. They will then have the
opportunity to participate in the Traditional Closing Ceremonies
which begin at 5:00pm.
